Hi everyone! Welcome to Diary of a 20 something!
This is just a little post to introduce myself, and share with you all my aims and goals that came with starting this little blog.
My name is Holly, I turned 20 a few weeks back and the novelty of it has definitely worn off...if it was ever there to begin with. Do you ever find seeking out an adults help, only to realise you are in fact the adult now...well me too! I think we'd get along perfectly! I wanted to start this blog because being 20 feels like this beautiful, scary, messy roller coaster ride that I'm embarking on, one I don't feel totally equipped for. Being a young woman today is nothing sort of complicated, there's love and relationships, navigating a sometimes incredibly male dominated society whilst also fighting to be taken seriously in any field and finding a way to be comfortable with who we are. All of these are things I seriously have no answers for, I figured it's something we can discover together!
I want this to be a completely honest space, one where we can all come together and figure out how to be successful 20 somethings in today's world. That successful will come on our terms, nobody else's. Some things I'll be talking about:
Love and Identity: Navigating real life relationships, alongside the absolute car crash that is modern dating (tinder is my absolute nightmare), who even am I without my phone? And the boundaries I deserve to set.
My person style and fashion dreams: The struggle that is trying to build my dream wardrobe on a budget, romanticising my outfits, Pinterest boards and pretending I don't already have countless clothes strewn over my floor that I refuse to wear anymore.
Reading: My personal favourite thing ever! I want to tell you about the books that changed my life, made me cry uncontrollably, ones I can still quote out loud, and my forever growing pile that I totally don't have room for.
My Ins and Outs: All those random, chaotic moments that we didn't predict and definitely cannot plan for, navigating my friendships, beautiful London finds, and how I'm feeling.
Truthfully, I have almost none of the answers to any of the above - and I don't think I will any time soon. But thats okay! It's why I'm here. I want to share all my funny little stories, sort of overdramatic meltdowns, and those small wins that we can all laugh about together. Think of this as a digital coffee date, or a book club, with your new bestie!
Before you go, could you do me a solid and help us break the ice? Leave a comment below letting me know your current read, or your favourite fashion statement! Bonus points for any Rina Kent lovers!
Thank you so much for reading!
Love you all,
Holly.
